Genetically, it is closest to the extinct Caspian tiger of Central and Western Asia. Their thick, coarse fur is a red-rust or rust-yellow color, with notorious transverse stripes across the body. Webanimals, food intake, mating frequency, breeding, rank among other tigers as assessed by human observers, and whether a tiger was raised by his or her mother (rather than human-fed).
